Rosuvastatin cuts LDL-C in children with familial hypercholesterolemia
Sunday, March 21st, 2010Rosuvastatin therapy significantly reduces levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and is well-tolerated in adolescents with familial hypercholesterolemia, a randomized placebo-controlled trial has found.
Yet just 40% of children reached the recently recommended LDL cholesterol goal of less than 110 mg/dl (2.84 mmol/l), a finding that the researchers say reflects the patients’ high baseline levels.
